Clinton pal gets unexpected Christmas “greeting”

Mayor Bill de Blasio flipped the switch Wednesday night to light the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in New York City — but not before the Clinton political ally got a nasty Christmas greeting from voters.

After he was called on stage, the crowd began booing the liberal mayor during the nationally televised event.

The mayor was joined by the co-CEOs of Tishman Speyer, the company that bought Rockefeller Center. The three all smiled and waved at the cameras, but the microphones easily picked up the boos by fed-up voters.

Although de Blasio may have easily won his re-election last year, it is no secret that the liberal mayor’s popularity among voters has dropped in recent months. Headline after headline detailing alleged corruption in his administration have made front pages throughout the city, and voters have had enough.

In fact, this was not the first time that de Blasio was booed during a public appearance.

Last year, Newsweek explained that he “was booed lustfully by crowds at the city’s annual Columbus Day Parade — a response to the mayor’s creation of a commission to study monuments like the towering Christopher Columbus statue near Central Park to determine which ones are ‘symbols of hate.'”

Boo, indeed.
