10 celebs that promised to leave the country in 2016 (get out!)

During the 2016 and 2018 elections, a host of Hollywood elites promised that if Donald Trump rolled into the White House, they’d leave the country.

So, where are they now?

Unfortunately, they’re all still in America… and still threatening to leave!

1. Barbra Streisand

Streisand is a twofer, threatening to move both if Trump became president and then again just last month if the Republicans won the midterm elections. Back in 2016 she threatened the people of Australia on “60 Minutes” by saying if Trump won, “I’m either coming to your country if you’ll let me in, or Canada.” Instead, she’s blamed the president for making her fat and released a new anti-Trump CD called “Walls.”

Then last month she said if Republicans won control of Congress, “I’ve been thinking about, do I want to move to Canada? I don’t know.” We’ll give her a pass, since the Democrats won control of the House in 2018.

But why she was still in the country in the first place? Shouldn’t she be tweeting about U.S. politics from Sydney?

2. Lena Dunham

The star of the HBO show “Girls” said she’d leave us alone back in 2016 at the Matrix Awards. “I know a lovely place in Vancouver and I can get my work done from there.” HBO canceled her show, so she didn’t have to worry—and she hasn’t moved.

“I can survive staying in this country, MY country, to fight and love and use my embarrassment of blessings to do what’s right,” she says now. If you won’t leave the country, why would you get our hopes up?

3. Chelsea Handler

The alcoholic comedian not only promised to move but said she’d already had everything ready to go in 2016. She told The Hollywood Reporter, “I did buy a house in another country just in case. So all of these people that threaten to leave the country and then don’t — I will leave the country.”

Despite her expensive threats, she copped out, tweeting after the election that “Yesterday, my staff reminded me that platforms and voices like mine are needed more than ever; leaving the country is quitting.”

How convenient.

4. Amy Schumer

Schumer was awfully specific about moving in 2016, telling BBC’s “Newsnight” that “I will move to Spain or somewhere. It’s beyond my comprehension if Trump won. It’s just too crazy.”

She’s stated in a long-winded Instagram post that it was a joke, claiming that she was “in mourning,” and telling Trump voters that Hillary was “fighting to take care of you kicking and screaming babies.” Nothing like calling voters stupid babies to win over the opposition.

5. Rev. Al Sharpton

During the 2016 elections, Rev. Al said, “I’m also reserving my ticket to get out of here if he wins. Only because he’d probably have me deported anyhow.”

But as of right now he hasn’t moved, and doesn’t seem to be planning to. He told TMZ, “We’re not going anywhere. Clearly, it was said in jest. If that’s the comfort they got, they might as well get ready for an uncomfortable ride.” I guess the good Reverend never heard of “Thou Shalt Not Lie.”

6. Miley Cyrus

The former Nickelodon star threw a fit in 2016 about Donald Trump’s election, telling her followers: “Honestly f— this s— I am moving if this is my president! I don’t say things I don’t mean!”

Two years later, it looks like Cyrus has decided she’d rather “Party in the USA.”

7. Whoopi Goldberg

The star of “The View” promised if the American people elected Donald Trump president, “maybe it’s time for me to move, you know.” But she’s still on TV every day, in Los Angeles, still earning millions of American dollars.

Instead, her promise has gone “Ghost.”

8. George Lopez

The “comedian” said that, if Trump is elected, he “won’t have to worry about immigration. We’ll all go back.”

Instead, Lopez has been pretending to urinate on Trump’s Hollywood star and giving such unhinged rants that he gets booed off the stage.

9. Raven-Symone

The onetime Cosby kid said flat-out, “My confession for this election is if any Republican gets nominated, I’m going to move to Canada with my entire family. I already have my ticket.”

We think she meant “elected,” since a Republican always gets “nominated.” Anyway, she’s still in the states and no one has noticed—probably because no one has noticed anything she’s done in years.

10. Cher

The ‘70s pop star tweeted that if Trump won, “I’m moving to Jupiter.”

But she hasn’t hitched a ride with the Rocket Man.

If these Hollywood has-beens want to hold politicians accountable, shouldn’t they start by keeping their own promises?

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!
