Michael Avenatti, the famed lawyer for porn star Stormy Daniels and critic of President Donald Trump, was arrested Wednesday and booked on a felony domestic violence charge, Los Angeles police said.
The victim in the case, a woman, had visible injuries on her face, according to Officer Tony Im, a police spokesman. Avenatti, who once said “assault victims and women deserve respect and to be heard,” called the allegation that he beat a woman “completely bogus.”
Avenatti posted $50,000 bail and was released about four hours after he was arrested Wednesday on the same block where he lives in a skyscraper apartment.
Police declined to provide any details about the alleged victim, including that person’s relationship to Avenatti.
As he left the police station Wednesday, Avenatti — who has been exploring a 2020 presidential run — said he’s confident that he will be exonerated.
Ironically, less than two months ago, the 47-year-old porn lawyer tweeted:”These old white men still don’t understand that assault victims and women deserve respect and to be heard.”

At the time, Avenatti was criticizing Republican’s call for due process for then-Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh was facing unproven accusations of sexual misconduct during his confirmation process.
Now Avenatti wants the alleged victim to stay silent and is demanding due process?
Isn’t it funny how the tables have turned.
Avenatti told reporters on Wednesday that he “has never struck a woman, I never will strike a woman.” Police say otherwise.
“I am looking forward to a full investigation, at which point I am confident that I will be fully exonerated,” Avenatti.
Of course, this isn’t the first controversy to pop-up around Avenatti in the past year.
Avenatti has been convicted of cheating his business partner, skipped out on paying his taxes, lied to millions of Americans, filed for divorce and, now, allegedly beat up women.
What an ideal 2020 Democratic presidential candidate he will be.
