Former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin was stopped by an MSNBC reporter Thursday, and asked if she ever experienced any of the sexual assault that is allegedly happening in Washington.
Her response was perfect.
Palin, a huge champion for gun rights, responded saying, “I think a whole lot of people know I’m probably packing so I don’t think there’s a whole lot of people who would necessarily mess with me.”
“I don’t mean to be light hearted,” she continued, “this is a serious issue. It really stinks for women in the workplace that, for too long, men have thought they can get away with that old-school thinking that it’s okay to belittle and harass women.”
She was questioned as accusations had just come out against Democratic Sen. Al Franken, and multiple accusations are becoming public in Hollywood.
Two female legislators introduced legislation this week to change the way Congress deals with these kinds of allegations.
Many other lawmakers have come forward with stories of sexual assault, but aren’t releasing names.
Palin continued, “It’s not a partisan issue. When we see this happening today I think it leads to a lot of questions about what standards are going to be applied to whom.”
While she showed she is taking the situation seriously, and something needs to be done to fix the way these kinds of allegations are addressed, she warned that the political environment could lead to false accusations.
“The floodgates are really open right now. That could lead to a low of false accusations that really harm an innocent person.”
It’s unclear if she was referencing anyone in particular, but GOP candidate Roy Moore has been fighting the accusations that came out about him all week.
There are reports that Moore has hired a lawyer to begin a defamation suit against his accuser, and is standing by his word that what is being said about him are lies.
While the fate of Moore and other accused in uncertain, one thing is: Sarah Palin is not to be messed with.
