Comey testimony proves CNN and NYT guilty of “fake news”

Ex-FBI Director James Comey testified Thursday regarding the FBI’s investigation — and he SLAMMED The New York Times and CNN for their false reports on the Russia investigation, calling them “nonsense.”

CNN has been building up to Comey’s testimony as if it was the Super Bowl. Their website complete with a countdown clock and around the clock coverage.

But even all the bells and whistles couldn’t save them from rocking their own credibility.

CNN posted the article “Comey expected to refute Trump” Tuesday, in which they cite “a source” who informed them Comey would refute President Donald Trump’s claims that Comey never told the president he was not under FBI investigation.

But there’s one major problem: Comey did tell Trump he wasn’t under investigation, and he just admitted it.

When Comey released his prepared opening testimony Wednesday, it concluded that Comey decided with his FBI leadership team that he should tell the then President-elect he was not under investigation.

The testimony read, “During our one-on-one meeting at Trump Tower, based on President Elect Trump’s reaction to the briefing and without him directly asking the question, I offered that assurance.”

And the scrambling at CNN began. They quickly issued a redaction, complete with a headline change to the less punchy, “Comey unlikely to judge on obstruction.”

While they covered up their fake reporting after the truth was revealed, it’s proof that anonymous sources (and maybe CNN) cannot be trusted.

During the testimony, Comey addressed this misinformation and the danger it poses to the American people.

When asked by Sen. James Rich about a New York Times report alleging that members of President Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia using electronic surveillance, Comey destroyed their entire narrative.

“It was not true. The challenge, and I’m not picking on reporters, about writing stories about classified information is the people talking about it often don’t really know what’s going on, and those of us that actually know what’s going on are not talking about it.”

He continued, “We just leave it there, nonsense. But I can’t go on explaining why it’s nonsense.”

Comey was so upset by the false report, he went as far as to survey the intelligence committee to see if he was missing something.

He wasn’t.

It was more fake news from The New York Times and CNN, misinforming the American people based on an anonymous sources, all to fit their anti-Trump narrative.

Seems the media is willing to do anything to make a buck these days — even lie.

Do you trust "anonymous sources"?
