Veteran reporter Dan Rather just brutally sabotaged his own legacy in an embarrassing attempt to get back in the spotlight.
Taking the bait from anti-Trump millionaire Mark Cuban, Rather agreed to sacrifice his reputation as a life-long, successful newsman to appear on Cuban’s unknown network.
Cuban, who has been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump, saw the opportunity to hire Rather for his network, and the retiree shockingly accepted.
The demotion consists of hosting a news show and interviewing musicians for HDNet, now called AXS TV, that Politico describes as, “a low-profile cable outlet” that is, “toiling in relative obscurity.”
Cuban bragged about hiring the elderly journalist, saying, “He is the Energizer Bunny. He keeps going and going, and the country is better for it.”
But clearly he isn’t worried about Rather being widely heard, because his network is unbeknownst to most.
When asked what specifically he hired Rather to do at his network, Cuban told POLITICO, “Go piss people off.”
The 85-year-old Rather, who retired from CBS News in 2004, gained popularity among the anti-Trump youth upon his harsh social media criticism of Trump that went viral two days prior to his inauguration.

With majority of the country electing the man that Cuban and Rather appear to despise, Cuban’s efforts to “piss people off” using Rather as his puppet are working.
Just not in the favor of Rather’s journalistic integrity.
