Ted Koppel attacks Sean Hannity (and loses!)

Veteran newsman Ted Koppel attacked Fox News host Sean Hannity on a heavily-edited interview on CBS’ “Sunday Morning” — but Hannity stole the show with his response on social media (and destroyed Koppel’s entire argument!)

In a tense exchange, Koppel told Hannity that he is “bad for America.”

Hannity retaliated, “You have to give some credit to the American people that they’re somewhat intelligent, and that they know the difference between an opinion show and a news show.”

Hannity then defended himself on Twitter, saying his interview had been edited down significantly — cut from 45 minutes to less than two.

The Fox News host said he provided many examples of media bias in the cut footage, and challenged CBS News to air the full segment.

In another tweet, Hannity called out the clear hypocrisy of Koppel’s judgement:

Silicon Valley actor Kumail Nanjiani joined the tussle, tweeting to Hannity that Koppel is likely a hero of his.

But Hannity disproved the claim and asserted Koppel’s editing equates to fake news.

The CBS Sunday Morning segment examined the polarization of the country and the phenomenon of “fake news.”

The liberal outlet accused conservative pundits like Hannity — but not themselves, of course — of contributing to American’s inability to distinguish between ideology and fact.
