Four days after the ouster of Roger Ailes as Fox News chief, two more executives at the network have been axed.
But the firing of Michael Clemente and his top deputy, Peter Boyer, were not related to the sexual harassment allegations that forced Ailes out at the network that he started two decades ago, two Fox executives said Monday, speaking on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss personnel issues.
Clemente was executive vice president of news at Fox until April, when he was demoted and put in charge of a new division for specials and long form programming. He worked at ABC News before coming to Fox.
Fox says it is reevaluating that division as it concentrates on the election over the next few months.
Ailes resigned Thursday after being sued by a former Fox anchor who alleged she was punished for resisting his sexual advances and complaining about an atmosphere of harassment at Fox. Other women have come forward, and published stories last weekend quoted a woman who said she was victimized by another Fox executive who had since left the network.
Clemente’s name has not been mentioned in any of the reports. It would make the timing of his firing particularly awkward.

There will likely be more terminations now that Ailes is gone. The new leadership will want to replace marginal employees with their own hires. The replacements may be no better but at least they will be loyal to the new leadership rather than someone who looks back to the old.
I read that Roger Ailes has a non-compete clause in his agreement so it is likely he will not be going anywhere.

(in reference to the previous commentary) That went out the window in the 80’s, and any respect for mainstream reporting in general in the US disappeared all in the same time period. The exceptions found themselves destroyed and ostracized. Now the USA mainstream “reporting” is the laughing stock of a Europe that once respected and cherished the USA, before the Reagan Bush wars that have led directly to the horrors the world must now pay every day, though many are making lots of money on the conflict, as the Bush family was famous for, during the World Wars as well…Be nice to have real peace in this world, as the USA used to be known for promoting before that time.

Although Fox has a Conservative leaning, they tend to provide the same sanitized, censored news as most of the other channels. Thank goodness for the internet. It’s the only way I can get more of the truth about topics and news I want. Why is there zero coverage of the conflicts going on in Iraq, Syria, Yemen? There are hundreds of thousands of people being tortured and intimidated. Particularly Christian. Why no coverage of anything Obama doesn’t want you to know? Because Obama directly controls most of the major media. The story was revealed last year that media reps talked the White House daily for their marching orders, but of course, the media wasn’t about to expose itself. Our news is almost entirely controlled by either the White House or the news executives themselves, 85% of whom are tools of the Democrat Party. It’s the primary reason we are turning into a Socialist country. I am indebted to FOX NEWS! Until I started watching FOX I knew nothing about the inner workings of politics and other news that I feel is important. Thanks FOX NEWS, I know change is inevitable, but please don’t stop informing us of what’s going on in the U S A.
World news is important and I am interested in it. But what’s going on in America is my greatest interest and concern.
I believe that’s enough firing of the fox people until you settle down and see what’s going on…you’re doing a lot of firing of people and sometimes that is necessary but the followers look and wonder if the people we watch hopefully will not be at the disposal of Fox. Fox News is now and has for years been the main propaganda agency of the Republican Party. Ailes himself has very close ties to Donald Trump, advising him on advantageous talking points and providing him with a cozy partisan platform to push his political agenda. But is anyone really shocked to discover that forcing your on-air talent to dress as prostitutes might be indicative of a workplace that more resembles a frat house than a news network?

Virginia Caminer The only news we watch is Fox News. They are more fair and balanced than any of the others. Sometimes my husband will look at NBC or ABC but seldom and I usually leave the room. But sometimes I’m too lazy and all of a sudden Brian Williams will come on. He is a total liar and egotistical. Why would they not fire him permanently. I doubt Ailes propositioned that female reporter (forgot her name). I’ll bet she lied about that because he didn’t renew her contract. I like Sean Hannity, Kelley Lang, sometimes Bill O’Reilly (although he interrupts people too much), and a lot of Fox News guest speakers. If they keep replacing the old Execs, they will ruin the Fox reputation. And then we will have no one to watch.
