Trump set to announce cabinet at RNC?

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump is not the average Republican candidate — so why should the 2016 Republican National Convention be traditional?

In an unexpected move, Trump is rumored to be set to reveal his Cabinet picks during the convention, according to both The Huffington Post and Breitbart.

Additionally, Trump ally Roger Stone revealed in an interview — which aired Sunday on the “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio” show — that he “thinks Trump is going to name a prospective cabinet and there is of course a way to do this that is perfectly legal. Because technically of course to promise someone a federal job is a crime so Trump could theoretically say, ‘For CIA Director I would appoint General Mike Flynn or someone like him.’ ‘For Secretary of State, I would appoint, who knows, you know, Aaron Klein or someone like him.’”

When asked if he had heard the news from an inside source, Stone replied, “I think you could take that to the bank.”

Thanks to Stone, we can assume Trump will appoint Flynn as CIA Director and Aaron Klein as Secretary of State (we’re pulling for you, Aaron). But who are the other contenders for Trump’s cabinet?

Here are some GOP big wigs that we think are in line for cabinet-level and other high-ranking positions:

—

1. Gov. Chris Christie — Attorney General

Christie has been busy leading Trump’s transition team since May, and has been responsible for vetting Trump’s choices for every cabinet position. He says he has “no idea” if Donald Trump would pick him for attorney general, but continued to say, “If he asks me, and I can do it, I will do it.”

It seems Christie should start vetting himself, because in March Trump said, “I think he’d make a great attorney general. He’s a very talented guy” in an interview on The Howie Carr Show.

It’s also no secret that Trump values loyalty. So who better to pick then a former competitor who was quick to endorse him when establishment figures flocked to Rubio as their last hope to stop Trump from becoming the Republican nominee?

His endorsement shocked most, and invoked criticism from party insiders. But Christie showed his loyalty by declaring, “I will lend my support between now and November in any way for Donald.” And a Cabinet position could be the perfect reward.

—

2. Carl Icahn — Treasury Secretary

In June 2015, Trump told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that he thought the billionaire investor, former CEO of General Electric Co. and Trump supporter would make an excellent head of the U.S. Treasury Department.

Although Icahn originally denied Trump’s suggestion to make him Treasury Secretary, he changed his mind after the August debate, tweeting, “After last night’s debate I decided to accept @realDonaldTrump offer for Secretary of Treasury.”

In April of this year, he ranted in frustration on CNBC that Republicans don’t understand economics – a clear sign that he would enjoy the chance to offer a fresh perspective.

—

3. Ben Carson — Surgeon General

Carson’s soft-spoken demeanor proved too calm for a presidential run, but that doesn’t rule him out for other high political positions.

In March, Carson told Newsmax TV, “I will be doing things as well… Certainly in an advisory capacity [in Trump’s administration].”

Although he didn’t reveal any specific details, Carson’s lack of political experience and huge success in the medical world reveal the obvious position choice: Surgeon General.

—

4. Rudy Giuliani — Homeland Security Secretary

The Former New York City mayor said last week he was Trump’s source for changing his call for a temporary ban on Muslims to focusing on individuals from “terror countries” instead. So it’s clear that Trump already holds Giuliani’s national security opinions in high regard.

In May, Trump told Fox News that he hadn’t made a decision for the Cabinet position, but he felt Giuliani would be a “wise” choice for the job.

On May 4th, the New York Daily News reported that a GOP insider said, “a secret deal has been struck by Donald Trump, and Rudy Giuliani would be head of Homeland Security.”

Although there hasn’t been any confirmation of the fact, it doesn’t seem too far-fetched of a prediction that Trump would want his friend and confidant by his side as President.

—

5. Newt Gingrich — National Security Adviser

Former House speaker Newt Gingrich was seriously considered to be Trump’s running mate. With the recent announcement of the Trump/Pence ticket, voters are left wondering: Where will Trump ally Gingrich fit into Donald’s potential administration?

Trump is considering Gingrich for a top national security post, Bloomberg Politics reported.

And it’s an obvious fit. Gingrich served as a member of the pentagon’s Defense Policy Board under George W. Bush, and is also a huge critic of the US nuclear deal with Iran.

On July 6th, as Gingrich campaigned with Trump in Cincinnati, Trump said, “In one form or another, Newt Gingrich will be part of our government.”

And don’t rule out Gingrich as a possible Secretary of State pick.

—

Although these seem like logical predictions, Trump is anything but predictable. If he does in fact announce his cabinet picks this week, it’s safe to say there will be at least one surprise, if not more.

Agree or disagree?

Comment below and tell us who YOU think would be the best pick for the Trump administration’s cabinet.

I don’t disagree with any of the names on the above list. Of course a couple of the names may be placed in different positions. What is most important is the man/woman. Talent, honesty, ability to perform the job. And especially now since their predecessors have screwed everything up so badly. But out of political correctness a few women will have to be added. The reality of modern politics.

Trey Goudy can do his best work in Congress. Mr. Trump will need strong leaders there to support his programs.

I think Allen West would make an excellent Sec of Defense. If I am not mistaken, he has a military background.

I was surprised at the power if Rudy’s speech at the convention. He has the ability to inspire, educate and drive home his convictions. He was a true American hero at 9/11 and was able to turn the great city of New York around and reduce the crime rate and greatly help the economy. He is a far cry from the current mayor. He needs to be in a position to make his unusually powerful speeches to the American people. His talent would be wasted if he is given a position where his voice cannot be utilized to it’s fullest extent.

Can hardly wait till the announcements are made public. After listening to his namesake last night, wouldn’t mind if he were included somewhere. Also, how about some of the men that survived Benghazi? Larry Klayman, of Freedom Watch, is another patriot that should be included somewhere. He has been in the fight big-time, taking this administration to court. Further, John Bolton and reinstating all of the Generals is another great idea mentioned above. When vetted, I’d like to know if those considered profess (and possess) Christ. 2 Chronicles 7:14 because if we aren’t being obedient to God’s laws, we can’t expect Him to continue to bless America.

There will be a woman President some day but never Hillary Clinton whose marriage with Willy is nothing but a front to protect them both these last 8 years from wearing prison jump suits. Anyone who thinks she is someone who would honor the Office of the Presidency is delusional. It would be like giving our treasury to the Mafia like the Teamsters did years ago. Unfortunately for the American people the fix is in for the Clintons with our mainstream Press. The democratic
party has been sold to the highest bidders and not the party of my parents. Corrupt corporate interests and Big Banks are running our country into the ground and only a President who isn’t bought and paid for like Donald Trump can turn this dire situation around. He may not be a mainstream politician, but he understands and really listens to mainstream Americans who work hard for their families and expect a return on their tax investments that Democrats generally squander year after year and keep asking to raise taxes for more and more of our hard earned funds. They only get elected by promising less educated masses of people free this and free that fully knowing they are never going to solve the problems but keep their own jobs at the expense of every other citizen. God help us all if we put another Clinton in the White House.

There are a couple of positions that don’t seem to have potential occupants:
      1. Director of EPA
      2. Secretary of Dept. of Education

Oh, wait! No reason TO have those positions filled!

Abolish DOE and let the states take care of their own educational needs.

Fold the main functions of EPA into Dept. of the Interior. (Yes, we DO need an environmental agency on a national level because pollutants and hazardous substances DO cross state boundaries. What we DON’T need is micromanaging of economic, personal and technological aspects of our country by a top-heavy bureaucracy that never met a regulation that it didn’t like.)

I agree with the picks, but I don’t really know Icabn, but I can’t see President Trump having anyone but the best on his cabinet, so he must feel secure with that choice. I really like Guiliano and would be great to have him on the cabinet in a security position. I might seriously think about Ms. Rice as Secretary of State or some cabinet position. I think she’s too good at whatever she does to ignore her for a cabinet position. Newt would bring a lot of stability and experience to the cabinet. I would be pleased with these selections. I think Supreme Court Justices will be probably the most important.

Can throw political correctness right out the window where it belongs. A woman or a minority or race in any position just for the sake of itself has always proven to be a wrong move & a bad choice with consequences.
Only one who truly has the qualifications to fill the position and the personal ability through experience to do the job. Scratch political correctness, we’ve already seen where that’s gotten us.

She worked for herself amassing money for her Foundation and campaign fund to be president. She could not even handle and understand the national security protocol, but she was desperate to get promoted to the WH. How greedy could she be. Her accomplishments at the State Dept. are LYING, CORRUPTING, AND COMMITTING FRAUD. Bill and Lynch made secret decision to exonerate her so that she could continue her lies and corruptions at the WH.

What is wrong with you people? If you want an outsider like Trump, why would you want all these insider Bush-era Neocons? The ones you commenters want are the PROBLEM, not the solution. Christie has probably never read the Constitution, likely has it printed on his toilet paper. Condi Rice was in on 9/11, she called the mayor of San Francisco on 9/10 and told him not to fly the next day! Rubio and Cruz are also establishment and can’t be trusted. What we need is people like Jessie Ventura in charge of the CIA, he knows where the bodies are buried in that criminal organization and he would pursue the criminals like the terminator. And Andy Napalitano as attorney general, he is a strict constitutionalist and would clean up the justice dept. and the FBI. The state dept. and pentagon are also riddled with corruption and need to be purged. Jeff Sessions would be good in that role.

Those choices look good so far. But for me, the FDA and USDA are very important. “In 2009, in a classic revolving-door move, President Barack Obama appointed former Monsanto VP and head lobbyist Michael Taylor as Deputy Commissioner for the FDA — the board tasked with regulating Taylor’s own industry.” The purpose was to push toxic foods sprayed with the carcinogen glyphosate as part of the mandate given to Obama to reduce the population of the United States by 90%. http://useugenics.FarTooMuch.Info … We need someone in the FDA who supports good health such as Dr. Russell Blaylock. We also need someone as head of the USDA such as Mr. Tom Vilsack who will promote healthy, organic foods.

I had already thought about a Trump cabinet and came up with many of the same names. Trump may be able to get around the legal requirements by unveiling his administration “dream team” or by creating a campaign level cabinet and putting these people in those positions for his campaign, ex. Chris Christie-legal adviser, Ben Carson-medical adviser.

Donald should let the American people know that he plans to fill his administration with the best people that America has to offer. The Trump White House will be his crowning achievement. How he handles his time as president will be how the history books remember him.

Yes, Ventura really. He’s not only NOT an idiot, Minnesotans declare him the best governor they ever had – for example, instead of PAYING taxes, they got REBATES!

He’s honest, strong mentally and physically, and just the kind of truth-seeking/truth-loving people Trump needs.

Colin Powell? i agree with your assessment, but before i say much more, i’d like to find out if he regrets his vote; he’s a smart man, chances are he’s more than willing to jump off that sinking, stinking barge that is the D’OweBama legacy.

i agree with the previous poster who said that NO Neo-Cons/shills for the NWO/OWG need apply.
i would agree with Carson for Surgeon General or head of HHS on one condition: he disavow his oft-declared intent to FORCE vaccinations on Americans. He can cite ZERO Constitutional authority that would grant him or ANYONE such tyrannical power…especially in an age where the Shrub’s maladministration made it impossible to sue vaccine manufacturers.

But i think i remember reading yesterday that it’s not only inadvisable, but UNLAWFUL to declare your picks for various cabinet positions BEFORE the election results are in. Manipulation that has taken trillions of dollars of purchasing power out of the pockets of all Americans except those of the insider traders who have become wealthy beyond measure, and has funded the radical Islamic terrorists.. Christie is perfect as the Attorney General job because he has the knowledge and power to correct the mismanagement of his two predecessors. Rudy Giuliani is perfect for Homeland Security. Our nation will be in good hands with Rudy protecting the coop. Ben Carson is not only the most qualified physician for Surgeon General ,he is a doer with love and compassion in his heart. Newt Gingrich is a powerhouse of knowledge of the political world and how to get the job done.He is a great General of political affairs, and,in my opinion would be a great Sec.of State. Many democrats do not want the Clintons in office again. This is a quiet revolution that will take place at the polls. I think the choices that Trump is making, for his cabinet, will influence many Democrats to vote for him. I have never voted for a Republican candidate for President before because I had good choices from the Democratic party. In this election I do not. It is a good sign that our nation is ready to elect a woman but Hillary is not the right woman-the day will come when a woman can run for President who has not been investigated for years. It is also a good sign that an African-American can be elected President. Many of Obama’s Cabinet members, like Eric Holder, were very self serving and Big Business serving. This manifested in IRS, the CIA, FBI and the Justice Dept. showing preferences that were not good for the country but good for Obama. Obama will be looking for a job soon. Trump has chosen well. His choices are individuals who have track records and are competent and capable.

I noticed that there is criticism that Michelle plagiarised Saul Alinsky in her speech during her husband’s Inaugural. Who cares!
She is a lawyer and knows limits. Saul Alinsky died in the 60’s and I am sure he would be happy to be quoted.

I don’t think that Cruz should be considered for anything other than shoeshine boy for the Bush Crime family – which of course leaves the Convention-shunning Bush family out in the cold. Why should Trump reward those who publicly disrespect him? Let the entire Bush family retire to their Paraguayan compound and let arrest warrants for them be issued.

It is my sincere hope that Trump requires a loyalty oath from EVERY appointee such that they disavow all connections with NWO/OWG elitists – otherwise, any such appointees will not work with Trump, but will sabotage, delay, undermine, and otherwise impede his progress in the America First agenda.

If Trump succeeds to the presidency – still a BIG if, considering the pressures The Liar is apt to bring upon the members of the Electoral College – his “America First” plan will set back the One World Government elitists by a decade, at least – which will be a Very Good Thing for humanity in general. The NWO creeps want to eliminate national borders entirely, starting with various “unions.” Screw ’em.

I wouldn’t want Christie in Trumps administration in any capacity! To much baggage! Trey G should be Attorney General a real pit bull which we need to combat corruption and Waste in our government! Allen West/ Flynn for Defense Secretary. John Bolton for UN ambassador. We also need to get the Miltary on the border and make sure they are armed to support the Border Patrol. We have troops coming home who have served in terrain like the Southwest and totally qualified for service on the border. Then all aircraft patrolling the border should be fully armed to combat any possible confrontation theyt might meet! No more money spent on renovating facilities to house Illegal Aliens, and get Joe Arpeio to show you how to build tent cities! If you make life humane but miserable for Illegals they will be less likely to want to come to America! We need elected officials who are willing to bring America back from the control of Liberal hating officials! Good luck Donald, because if you don’t make it America the end/civil war may be the end!!!!!

I agree with some of the choices. Except make Giuliani the Secretary of State. His voice will be heard. He was an excellent mayor of NYC. Make Rand Paul director of homeland security. Giuliani wouldn’t take crap from anyone. So the rest of the world wouldn’t dump on us. Gingrich as NSA advisor ok but I would look alittle further. Christie is tough would make a great AG.

Several readers have posted some great suggestions. However, nominating any flag officer (general or admiral) for Secretary of Defense could be counterproductive. While, ultimately, the military is accountable to the Commander-in-Chief, they take their day-to-day guidance from the SecDef.

Having a retired general as SecDef is frought with peril. Other senior officers who knew him “in the day”, or with whom they have differences, could cause problems.

A retired general is not really a civilian. Our military has always been under civilian control. Let’s pay attention to our history and leave it that way.

    Trump Cabinet:
All selections should be vetted as to whether they are members of the powerful, ONE WORLD ORDER group…(the CFR,) Counsel on Foreign Relations.
The Secretary of State is an extremely important position for America at this time as never before. It must be a person of outstanding Patriotism and moral integrity and one that will represent our country firmly, proudly, and competently.
Sec. of Defense…I believe General Mike Flynn would excellent
    Sec.of Transportation.. Gov. Susanna Martinez???
    Sec. Veterans Affairs…Col. Alllen West
    Sec. of Agriculture…Gov.Terry Branstad
Sec. of Treasury…Carl Icahn or maybe Larry Kudlow
Sec. of Energy Sen. Joe Manchin
Sec. of the Interior.. Gov. Sarah Palin
    Sec. of Labor…Gov. Scott Walker?
Sec. of Commerce..Mark Cuban, (although I know little about him???)
Attorney General…will no doubt be Gov. Chris Christie
Surgeon General…should be Dr. Ben Carson
Director of Homeland Security…excellent choice of ex-Mayor of NYC Rudy Guiliani
    Ambassador to UN… John Bolton
    FBI Director…Trey Gowdy
    EPA Chairman…Sen Jim Inhofe
    OMB…Sen Rand Paul
There are a number of good men and women who have SUPPORTED Donald and not bashed him; who should be put on the list….Gov. Mike Hichabee, General Mike Keane and Gen. James Mattis.
No to Trump basher’s such as: Gov. Nikki Haley, Carly Fiornia, Sen. Ted Cruz, Gov. Kasich
Trump does not need to have dissenters in his entourage of advisors
    Susan Rice and Colin Powell have used poor judgement for this country I believe, and should NOT be considered;
There are plenty of good people Donald knows that can help him fuse this country back together and make it “GREAT AGAIN”.

jdp…We need to be on watch because the man in the white house has laid out 8 years of taking America down, he is not likely to just give it to a Republican no matter who that would be. So a very quick reaction to such a move like a 3rd term under marshal law must be nipped in the bud by our Rep leaders, He has ramped up dielectric exercises to cause 2nd admendment changes or to enact marshal law, the more shootings we have or bombings, every 4-6 weeks is kind of a pattern alternating between Europe and the States. With 5 months left he is not slumbering but increasing what he can do before elections. Why is he not called out for releasing US and imigrant violent criminals out of prision? With the release of these criminals he is building up a private army of sorts. he should be taken out of the way on a medical.

I would like to see Mike Huckabee in there somewhere along with these good choices. As long as Newt and Chris Christy have major roles I feel safe. I will trust Trump’s chosen inner circle of talented, knowledgeable people to help with the remaining cabinet and office selections. It is truly sad that Ted Cruz could not support Trump, he might have made a good Supreme Court Justice. I think we need to keep our senate and congress strong and avoid pulling too many from that pool.

    RECOMMENDATIONS
Admiral Mullins to Secretary of State, LTG Flynn to DNI, General Petraeus to be pardoned and moved to National Security Adviser, Defense to stay, Education and HUD to females, Gingrich as a senior adviser (free roaming), Commerce and Trade should come from your business operations. Establish a Infrastructure Management Directorate within the office of the President. This directorate would serve as a national focal point for establishing the priority system for infrastructure and energy development. I recommend myself as Director, having the knowledge, skills, abilities and 33 years of experience. This Directorate should be established immediately to support the campaign.
I am a retired Army Officer
