Bill Clinton’s nasty attack on July 4th completely backfired

While President Donald Trump was at the National Mall on July 4th telling Americans that “no dream in history is bigger,” former President Bill Clinton was busy using the 250th anniversary of our national as a political attack on the White House.

Clinton posted a two-page statement on X marking the nation’s 250th birthday, warning darkly that America faces “serious threats” to its institutions. He never directly used Trump’s name, but it was clear who the Democratic Party leader was targeting.

“Today, we celebrate this milestone amid another period of deep division, renewed questions about America’s future and role in the world, and serious threats to our own institutions and to our democracy itself,” Clinton wrote.

“The people in charge have unleashed masked agents on American communities to seize people from their homes, workplaces and the street,” Clinton wrote. “They have started an unconstitutional war on a whim, with no clear objectives or exit strategy, and zero regard for the consequences to the lives of millions of people around the world. With the help of lifetime appointees to the Supreme Court and a compliant Congress, they have weaponized government to settle personal scores, prosecute enemies, stamp out free speech and made the federal government a new profit center for themselves and their allies.”

The internet noticed the irony immediately.

This is from the same president whose administration sent armed federal agents in military gear to seize 6-year-old Elian Gonzalez at gunpoint from his family home in 2000, and whose Justice Department oversaw the bloody siege at Waco that killed 76 people including two dozen children.

From the man who ordered airstrikes on Kosovo, Sudan, Afghanistan, and Iraq without a congressional declaration of war.

From the same president whose “family foundation” collected hundreds of millions in donations from foreign governments while his wife served as Secretary of State and used Haitian relief money to pay for his daughter’s wedding, despite earning up to $750,000 per speech after leaving office. Critics have accused the foundation being funded by Jeffrey Epstein’s global sex trafficking rings.

In his 1995 State of the Union address, Democrats gave Clinton a standing ovation when he said, “We are a nation of immigrants, but we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.”

On Friday, he called the people doing that “masked agents” unleashed on innocent illegal immigrants.

“Why would you drop that on July 4th?” RedState’s Nick Arama asked. “They always have to attack America. Imagine this guy having the temerity to talk about misuse of government, with everything from Monica Lewinsky to what his wife’s campaign did with the dossier and Russia collusion. Not to mention ‘profit center for themselves.'”

Clinton’s statement came as Trump took the stage at the National Mall for a late-night America 250 address, calling the nation “the most exceptional ever to exist” and declaring that “our destiny is written by God.”
