ESPN star Matt Miller revealed Tuesday that he had his left arm amputated and suffered multiple other serious injuries after a horrific car crash last week.

“Last week, I was involved in a serious car accident in Missouri and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital,” Miller wrote on X. “I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses and medical staff. I’m incredibly fortunate to be writing this.”

Miller, who is an NFL draft analyst at the sports network, was driving a Ford Bronco when his vehicle crossed the center line of a highway in Missouri and collided head-on with a semi truck. The truck driver was not injured. Miller was airlifted to a hospital in Joplin following the crash, where doctors were forced to amputate his arm to save his life.

“As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs,” Miller wrote. “I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm. While I have a long road ahead, I’m focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time.”

Miller has become one of ESPN’s most recognizable stars in recent years. He joined the network as a contributor in 2021 before becoming a year-round NFL draft analyst the following season, making his on-air draft day debut in 2023.

He regularly appears on “NFL Live,” “SportsCenter,” and “Get Up!” in addition to ESPN’s draft coverage, and spent more than a decade as the lead draft writer at Bleacher Report from 2010 to 2021 before joining ESPN full-time.

“ESPN’s thoughts are with Matt Miller and his loved ones,” the network said in a statement. “We wish him strength in his recovery and look forward to seeing him back at ESPN when he’s ready.”

Despite the severity of his injuries, Miller said he intends to return to the job on ESPN.

“Thank you for the overwhelming support, prayers and kind messages — they have meant so much to me and my family during this time,” Miller wrote. “I look forward to continuing my recovery and getting back to ESPN to talk football, including what should be an exciting 2027 NFL Draft class.”

The 2027 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place next April in Washington, D.C.
