Troubled former First Son Hunter Biden spent the past several weeks having a meltdown online. He has screamed at Republicans, made drug jokes, and racking up viral moments on social media.
Now Democratic insiders are asking: Is this actually a 2028 presidential campaign launch?
The former first son has been on a constant social media rampage since returning to X in mid-May. It has drawn enormous attention online, and made even President Donald Trump take notice.

It started building in earnest June 1, when Biden marked seven years of sobriety on social media. Supporters flooded his replies. A parody X account called @HunterFor2028 responded by posting campaign-style imagery promoting him as the 2028 Democratic presidential nominee.
“LFG,” Hunter responded.
When a user posted what appeared to be an AI-generated campaign image with a meth pipe in his mouth, Biden demanded a correction.
“I know this may sound petty, but I can’t stand it when people photoshop a meth pipe in my mouth. A crack pipe doesn’t have that little bowl at the end,” he joked.

I know this may sound petty, but I can’t stand it when people put photoshop a meth pipe in my mouth. A crack pipe doesn’t have that little bowl at the end. This is why we can’t trust AI. Please make the appropriate edit. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Conservative commentators were split between amusement and alarm.
Fox News host Jesse Watters had floated the theory earlier this year, when Biden went on a three-hour profanity-filled interview on the “Channel 5” podcast and unloaded on George Clooney, David Axelrod, Anita Dunn, and the Democratic establishment he blamed for destroying his father.
Watters called it a “Revenge Tour” and said Hunter was effectively positioning himself as “Dark Brandon Jr.”
“When Roman emperors used to murder their political rivals, they used to not just murder the rival. They’d murder the entire family,” Watters said on “The Five.” “Because if you leave the son alive, he’ll spend the rest of his life seeking revenge. They may have killed off Joe Biden, but Hunter Biden is very much alive.”
Hunter Biden has not formally declared a presidential campaign, and his social media remarks could simply be trolling rather than serious political intent.
Of course, his situation makes any actual political run virtually impossible to imagine. Hunter lives outside of the United States, claims to be nearly broke, and was pardoned by his own father of multiple federal felony convictions before Joe Biden left office. Courts documents filed as recently as this spring stated flatly: “Mr. Biden lives abroad. He cannot pay his current lawyers.”
But then again, being a broke and untrustworthy previously convicted felon have ever stopped Democrats before.
