President Donald Trump ran on a pledge to make America stronger, richer, freer, and safer. A new study proves that Republicans voters who follow the president’s crime policies save lives.
Electing a Republican instead of a Democrat as your local prosecutor reduced the number of young men—especially the number of young black men—who get shot and killed significantly, experts found.
Two researchers examined crime patterns from 2010 to 2019 in areas that had tight races for district attorney and concluded that the “narrow election of a Republican prosecutor reduces all-cause mortality rates among young men ages 20-29 by 6.6%. This decline is driven predominantly by reductions in firearm-related deaths.”
“This reduction is meaningful,” said the authors in perhaps the greatest understatement of the study.
Several online commentators shared the same phrase before recent elections: “Vote Republican like your life depends on it.” This study vindicated their concerns.
“This is insane! Soft on crime prosecutors are causing real harm,” said David McIntosh, president of the Club for Growth.
Sending criminals to jail keeps black men from being gunned down in the streets, the researchers found. And they statistically proved that higher incarceration rates save more young black lives than white lives.
“This decline is driven predominantly by reductions in firearm-related deaths, including a large reduction in firearm homicide among Black men and a smaller reduction in firearm suicides and accidents primarily among White men,” said the report, using the Woke convention of capitalizing racial identifications. “Increased prison-based incapacitation explains about one third of the effect among Black men and none of the effect among White men.”
In other words, jailing criminal offenders isn’t racism; letting them go is.
To make the researchers’ findings more beautiful, one of the study’s authors is tied to Hillary Clinton.
Fascinating paper

The Democrat-bashing study was conducted by Panka Bencsik, a professor of medicine and health at Vanderbilt University, and Tyler Giles, an economics professor at Wellesley College—Hillary Clinton’s alma mater.
The study, while welcome, is not without its flaws.
Bencsik and Giles theorized that sending more people to jail saves lives, because many convicts are legally banned for life from owning a firearm. Republican prosecutors cause “substantial increases in criminal conviction rates across racial groups and crime types, which then reduce firearm access through legal restrictions on gun ownership for the convicted,” wrote the researchers.
But that assumes hardened criminals obey gun laws; they don’t.
What really reduces crime rates? Tough policies that make criminals afraid to hurt innocent people for fear of going to jail—or the electric chair—according to other expert insights.
“Focused deterrence strategies are associated with an overall statistically significant, moderate crime reduction effect,” found a systematic review of criminal programs conducted by three criminologists in 2019. “Policymakers and practitioners should continue to implement these programs to control serious crime problems.”
Boston’s 1996 “Operation Ceasefire” led to a “significant 63% reduction in youth homicides, 25% reduction in gun assaults, 32% reduction in shots fired calls for service, and 44% reduction in youth gun assaults in one high‐risk district.”
Indianapolis’ Violence Reduction Partnership of 1998-2001 resulted in a “34% reduction in total homicide.”
The war-torn slum of Stockton, California’s 1998 “Operation Peacekeeper” effected a “42% reduction in gun homicide.”
The list of cities where locking up violent offenders cut crime rates goes on for pages.
As for their other conclusion, tough prosecution probably lowers white men’s risk of suicide by eliminating the idea among poor people of all races that they cannot escape the rampant crime and violence targeting them and their families. Safer communities give people hope they can rise out of their circumstances, as long as they’re not convinced they’re doomed to live forever as nothing but prey.
Some conservatives believe there’s another dynamic at work, as well. “84% of all gun deaths among whites are suicide; only 20% for blacks. Having someone in charge who, well, cares about white men seems to lead to less white men ending their lives,” said the conservative website Not The Bee.
None of this comes as a surprise to faithful readers of The Horn. This column reported that crime nationwide under President Donald Trump.
The number of murders committed in the United States fell by 19 percent in 2025, President Trump’s first year in office, according to the Real-Time Crime Index, which tabulates crime reports from 570 law enforcement agencies nationwide.
That means almost one out of every five people who would have been murdered in 2024 lived through 2025.
The Horn also told you that the Biden administration kept fudging the number of homicides that took place on his watch, and in previous administration. Now we know why.
This Horn columnist has told you that soft-on-crime policies instituted by prosecutors funded by George Soros have spiked violent crime rates and left urban Americans feeling unsafe from coast-to-cast. People have been stabbed, shot, murdered, raped, robbed, and—thanks to George Soros—ignored by their own district attorneys.
This study and track record proves that The Horn has more journalistic integrity than The New York Times. The world’s most prestigious outlet, which claims to share “all the news that’s fit to print,” felt positively stumped by the suddenly safer streets Americans encountered in the Trump administration.
“What’s Behind the Staggering Drop in the Murder Rate? No One Knows for Sure,” said one headline in the Times.
Don’t laugh too loudly; it’s not that hard to baffle The New York Times.
Other Fake News outlets claimed that Republican attempts to remove weak prosecutors undermines the American way of life.

A 2023 headline in The Los Angeles Times warned of “Republicans’ ominous strategy to thwart criminal justice reform — and democracy.”
Republican officials have celebrated the notable crime reduction under President Trump, especially in areas where he deployed the National Guard.
“THIS is what protecting the American people with law and order looks like,” exclaimed Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La. “The facts are irrefutable — under Republican leadership, Americans are safer.”
But Democrats have proven they haven’t learned the lesson—with potentially deadly consequences for Americans everywhere.
Democrats continue to promote limp, liberal, lenient crime policies that coddle criminals and punish victims.
Years of studies won’t open their eyes if stacks of dead bodies haven’t touch their hearts.
American citizens have to hold liberals accountable for the consequences of their policies. They must know there is blood on their hands. And unfortunately, the cliché is true: Americans must vote like their lives depend on it.
