President Barack Obama has finally given his long-delayed endorsement to Hillary Clinton, and he’s getting ready to seal it with a kiss by hitting the campaign trail on her behalf.
But is he giving her the kiss of death instead?
Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe the country is on the wrong track, and President Obama’s approval rating hasn’t cracked 50 percent since April 2013.
What’s more, the signature “achievement” of his administration remains wildly unpopular: Less than 40 percent of Americans approve of the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare.
In other words, at a time when the nation is fractured and looking for a presidential candidate who can unify the country, Obama remains just about the most divisive and polarizing figure in recent U.S. history.
Obama also represents another problem for Clinton: Voters are loathe to give a “third term” to the party in power.
After two terms of a failed liberal presidency, most Americans are ready for change… especially the ones who never got the “hope and change” they were promised 8 years ago.
Even Democratic leaders are openly worried that these voters are so angry at Obama that he can’t help – and that Clinton is too close to him after serving in his administration.
“There’s so much anger at the establishment, and it’s hard for her to divorce herself from that because she’s been a fixture on the scene for so long,” David Axelrod, President Obama’s chief campaign strategist, told The Washington Post. “It is important to speak to the sense of insecurity that is driving some Americans, but I think she has to do it in a way that is authentic.”
If he’s right, then Clinton is already doomed… and all the Obama speeches in the world won’t help, especially since her biggest hurdle of all is with the one group of voters Obama has failed to reach: working-class white people.
They’re so disaffected that between 5 million and 10 million white voters didn’t even turn out in 2012 – and if even some of them had bothered to vote, Mitt Romney would have won.
“The white vote is so large that an improvement of 4 points… would have won the race for Romney,” conservative columnist Byron York wrote in the Washington Examiner in a 2013 election post-mortem.
Romney had a 20-point advantage in white voters, but still lost. If he had won 4 percent more, he would be running for re-election right now.
Instead, Donald Trump is running against Hillary Clinton, and a Washington Post/ABC News survey showed Trump winning the white vote, 57-33 percent.
That’s not only a bigger percentage than either Mitt Romney or Ronald Reagan enjoyed, that’s a 24 point advantage – 4 points more than the one Romney had, or just enough to put Trump over the edge in November… if they actually show up and vote this time.

I do not care one bit how un-politically correct Trump is. The way I see it, if a candidate is politically correct, that means he or she is lying to everyone. Trump dares to tell us what is really going on in the world. Not that legality matters, but at least ethically, how can a sitting president endorse someone who is under criminal investigation by his own FBI and DOJ. I personally think the fix is in – she will be indicted, the DOJ will refuse to prosecute, and then Obama will pardon her. Most of her supporters already say they will still vote for her even if she is indicted. Shows just how far this country has slipped into the depths of hell. Eight years ago Obama was promising to fundamentally change America. But he never specified what direction that change would take. A majority of voters optimistically presumed that the change would be for the better and an improvement. One can only hope that most of them have learned from their mistake. Those promised changes have been to fundamentally change us into a socialist state and reduce everything to the lowest common denominator. Now he has given Hillary his indorsement to continue the work that he has started. She has already played a key role in that agenda as his Secretary of State. A vote for Hillary is a vote for the continuation of the awful legacy of the past eight years.
