Memorial Day is a time to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation’s freedom. Our fallen heroes gave everything in the service of our country, and we honor their selflessness and courage.

Here are 10 Bible verses you may find helpful in your prayers for those brave souls who gave their lives to defend America’s freedom.

  1. John 15:13- “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
  2. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11- “For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”
  3. Philippians 1:3- “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you…”
  4. Romans 13:7- “Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor”
  5. Proverbs 10:7- “The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.”
  6. 1 Corinthians 16:13- “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”
  7. 1 John 3:16- “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brother and sisters.”
  8. Psalm 34:18- “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
  9. Joshua 1:9- “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
  10. Timothy 2:3- “Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.”

    Romans 8: 38-39- for I am pursuaded that neither death nor life
    Nor Angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present- nor
    Things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature
    Shall be able to separate us from the love of God. Which is IN
    Christ Jesus our Lord!

    Psalm 23 1-6 I wonder how many times this has gone through the heads of our fighting men and women just before an engagement, beach landing, or jump?
    1The LORD is my shepherd,
    I shall not want.
    2He makes me lie down in green pastures;
    He leads me beside quiet waters.

    3He restores my soul;
    He guides me in the paths of righteousness
    For His name’s sake.

    4Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I fear no evil, for You are with me;
    Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

    5You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
    You have anointed my head with oil;
    My cup overflows.

    6Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
    And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

      I served in the Korean war,and I was able to return to my loved ones. I beg of you,please do not call me a hero,for those that were not able to return are the real hero’s. I did my duty to my country,and I love my country and at the age of 83 I will still defend my country if need be. From a Marine veteran, Semper Fi Always faithful.

    Romans 12:1-2
    I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
    And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

    John 3:16-21 For God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not parish, but have everlasting life.
    17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
    18 He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the
    only begotten Son of God.
    19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and man loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
    20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
    21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in
    God.
    Father drive out evil in this country and Your Light shine on us again. This is Your Country. In Jesus Name, amen.

    James 1;2-3 “Consider it all joy when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance”! I was never in the service, but I think that I do know, now, what it means to be a soldier. At home, or abroad, on land or at sea. in an unknown place with your life in the hands of your officers and your team, the guys who you put your life in their hands in order to survive in a war that nobody wants, and nobody but you and your comrades fully understands. Grieve for the fallen, and thank God that you made it home. Thank you for your service!
