LSU Tigers star freshman running back JT Lindsey faces felony charges after authorities found two murder suspects hiding in his dorm room, along with multiple guns.
Lindsey turned himself in on Friday on two counts of accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and was released on $5,000 bond. The 18-year-old football player is accused of harboring Shemell Jacobs, 17, and Keldrick Jordan, 18, who were wanted for killing 17-year-old Corey Brooks in Alexandria, Louisiana, in May.
U.S. Marshals arrested both murder suspects Monday at LSU’s Nicholson Gateway dorms after they had been hiding there for nearly two weeks. The arrest warrant reveals investigators found multiple firearms in Lindsey’s apartment-style dorm room, including two AR-15 rifles.
Alexandria Police Chief Chad Gremillion had specifically warned the public months earlier about helping the murder suspects. “Let me be clear, anyone found protecting or harboring these violent individuals will be held accountable and arrested,” Gremillion told the media.
Despite his lawyer’s claims of innocence, the arrest warrant states it is “highly unlikely” Lindsey didn’t know his friends were wanted for murder. The document reveals damaging evidence against the football player’s defense.
“Given the size of Alexandria and the close ties Lindsey had to both the victims and suspects in the case it is highly unlikely that he would not have been aware of these media reports. Investigators also interviewed an associate of Lindsey, who advised that Lindsey had told the associate, prior to their apprehension, that Jacobs and Jordan were wanted for murder,” the warrant states.
All three men are from Alexandria, Louisiana. Jacobs reportedly had Lindsey’s school ID and PIN number to access the dorms, and surveillance shows them together as early as July 24.

Lindsey’s attorney Kris Perret maintains his client’s innocence, claiming the football player was unaware his friends were murder suspects.
“JT Lindsey is adamant that he is innocent of any alleged criminal misconduct and any allegations of wrongdoing against him. He is fully cooperating with authorities and looks forward to clearing his name as quickly as possible,” Perret said. “He was unaware that the individuals arrested had committed any crimes or that they had been accused of any crimes, or that they were wanted by the police for questioning when he allowed them to stay at his apartment. Had he known that the individuals were accused of any crimes or wanted by the police, he would not have allowed them into his apartment or associated with them in any manner.”
Police say that beyond the associate’s statement that Lindsey knew the suspects were wanted, the discovery of multiple firearms in his dorm room raises serious questions about his involvement.
LSU has suspended Lindsey from all football activities pending resolution of the criminal charges. Athletics communications director Michael Bonnette issued a brief statement saying, “We are aware and won’t have any comment out of respect for the legal process.”
Lindsey was a highly sought-after recruit, rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 75 player nationally in the Class of 2025. He rushed for 2,476 yards and 33 touchdowns on 324 carries for Alexandria High School in 2024, earning the Warrick Dunn Award as Louisiana’s top high school football player.
The murder suspects had been wanted since May when Brooks was shot and killed in Alexandria. Police had been actively searching for Jacobs and Jordan, issuing public pleas for information about their whereabouts.
