Department of Ed Secretary Linda McMahon delivers WWE smackdown

In a move straight out of her WWE playbook, Education Secretary Linda McMahon came off the top rope on House Democrats Wednesday when she crashed their press conference outside the Department of Education building.

Several House Democrats had just finished meeting with McMahon about recent Education Department restructuring and austerity measures, and decided to hold a press conference right outside the building to attack her — only to have McMahon herself stride up to their microphone.

Rep. Frederica Wilson, D-F.L., had been busy smearing parent groups like Moms for Liberty, suggesting they should “write our curriculum” and falsely claiming they want to “wipe the pages clean” of Black history.

Rep. Melanie Stansbury, D-N.M., was mid-complaint about the department being treated as a “corporate restructuring” when McMahon appeared.

“She is here, perhaps I should give her the podium,” Stansbury said.

McMahon calmly took the mic and explained in how actual education policy should work.

“I believe, and I know the president does believe this as well, the best education is that that is closest to the child, where teachers and parents, local superintendents — working together and local school boards to develop the curriculum for those students — is the best way that it can happen,” McMahon explained.

According to the Trump administration, the Democratic education agenda depends on keeping power centralized in Washington bureaucrats rather than returning it to parents and local communities.

McMahon assured everyone that federal education funding would continue through established programs.

“When are you going to shut down this building?” Rep. Mark Takano, D-C.A., demanded.

“Well, we’ve had our discussions already, so thank you all very much for coming,” she replied before walking away, leaving Takano to complain to reporters, “You see, she’s not answering the question.”

The only thing missing was McMahon delivering an actual WWE finishing move before walking out.

Take a look —

This morning, I hosted a meeting with House Democrats to hear their concerns.

Our collective goal should be to support students, not the broken bureaucracy. https://t.co/JTusKYQqk6
