You’d be hard pressed to find many divorced couples that would want to work together.
But Donald Trump’s ex-wife Marla Maples is open to working with her ex-husband should he be elected.
Maples, who is Trump’s second wife, and mother to Tiffany Trump said in an interview with The Evening Standard earlier this month, she laughed at people claiming she had ambitions to become her ex-husband’s VP. But still, she didn’t rule out the possibility.
Of course, the prospects of becoming VP are out the door now as Trump selected JD Vance as his running mate yesterday.
However, Maples did say she would be willing to work with — and support — her ex in any way she could.
“I’m open. I’m open to whatever way that I can serve.”
“Right now everyone [in the Trump family] is just seeing how we can help,” she added.
Maples and Trump were married from 1993 to 1999 — following a media frenzy amid the then-New York real estate developer’s split with his first wife, Ivana Trump — and are parents to daughter Tiffany Trump.
The 60-year-old actor kept a relatively low profile during her ex-husband’s 2016 White House bid.
“I’ve never been a fan of politics. I see how it can separate and divide us,” Maples said during her interview.
“At the same time, I found myself in the throes of it,” the “Dancing with the Stars” alum said.
“I want to step out more, share more and not be afraid of positive or negative outcomes that come from speaking out,” she said.
Maples once revealed that she cautioned Trump about launching a bid for the presidency while they were married in the 1990s.
“It’s something we thought about doing in the ’90s, but I knew it would be difficult on the kids, it takes a big toll on kids, and Donny, Ivanka and Eric (Trump’s three eldest children with his first wife) were much younger then,” Maples said in a 2018 appearance on NBC.
