“On the Holmes Front” with Frank Holmes
This holiday weekend is a time to celebrate America — land of the free, home of the brave. But as we count our blessings for the liberties our Founding Fathers bestowed on us and our posterity, we should take a second to remember those who are distraught this holiday: the hate-America leftists who despise the founders, the flag, the Declaration of Independence, and anything that stands in the way of their “fundamentally transforming” American into a workers’ paradise.
Think especially of the partisan Democratic politicos mourning the loss of their court-based “lawfare” against former President Donald Trump after the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that he had immunity from prosecution over official acts performed in office.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor warned that a president could send SEAL Team 6 to whack his political opponent…which may be misreading the opinion.
An even less reasonable mind—Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.–decided she’s going to impeach somewhere between two-thirds and 100 percent of the sitting Supreme Court justices.
As usual, AOC gave a word salad of reasons for her opinion. “The Supreme Court has become consumed by a corruption crisis beyond its control,” she posted on X.
But then she shifted gears to say she didn’t like the decision: “Today’s ruling represents an assault on American democracy. It is up to Congress to defend our nation from this authoritarian capture.”
“I intend on filing articles of impeachment upon our return” to session in the House of Representatives after the holiday weekend.

Coincidentally, those reasons are the same ones offered by a far-Left liberal group founded by a Hillary Clinton campaign leader called Demand Justice. The group just announced a $10 million campaign to “reform” (which means destroy) the Supreme Court over supposed corruption, as well as its rulings.
They want the president to pack the court, limit justices to 18-year terms instead of life, and create whole new offices that will open up investigations into justices.
Imagine a Robert Mueller for every conservative justice on the Supreme Court, and you begin to get the picture.
“Our democracy is in an absolute crisis, and the Supreme Court majority is accelerating it,” said Skye Perryman, Demand Justice’s new senior adviser.
“We have a court that is not protecting our democratic institutions,” she said—although the presidency is a democratically elected institution within our constitutional republic.
The Left’s real problem with our new, constitutional Supreme Court, which Donald Trump cemented isn’t that it’s obstructing “Our Democracy”: It’s that it’s restoring democracy, empowering citizens, and letting freedom ring.
Our Supreme Court has said no tin-horn local prosecutor can harass and persecute a president for doing the job voters elected him to do—much less a Justice Department led by his power-mad political opponent.
It has said abortion should be settled democratically by voters, not dictated from the bench.
It has said nobody—not even elected leaders—can deny Americans the freedom to defend themselves and their families through peaceful gun ownership.
This desire to put Americans in charge of their own future was on display again at the same time as the immunity ruling, when the Supreme Court issued a decision that struck a deep blow against the Deep State.
It’s a little technical, but the underlying principle is easy to understand: The Supreme Court ruled that federal bureaucrats can’t just create law out of thin air.
Technically, they overturned a legal doctrine called the “Chevon deference,” which judicial activists created out of thin air themselves 40 years ago. In 1984, the still-liberal majority ruled that if a federal agency—like the EPA, the ATF, or the IRS—write a regulation, the courts should assume it’s legal..and legally binding. All the regulators have to do is convince a judge their new rule is what the people who passed some law would have wanted, or at least that their new regulation is related to the bill they’re writing.
Sneak past that bar, and you can write any law you want—without ever passing it as a law or even getting elected.
That costs you big—way more than the British tax on tea that touched off the Declaration of Independence.
The total burden of federal regulations amounts to $1.939 trillion, or 7.4 percent of the entire U.S. GDP. The average American household pays $14,514 a year in a “hidden regulatory tax,” said the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
But federal regulations don’t just cost you money; they chip away at your freedom—the freedom to own a gun, to use your own land if it’s declared a “wetland,” to run a business, or live your life without D.C. investigating you, looking over your shoulder, and breathing down your neck.
That’s the exact opposite of everything the Founding Fathers fought against on the very first Independence Day.
“Last week the Supreme Court sent a cruise missile into the heart of the unelected Washington D.C. federal bureaucracy and gutted the administrative state’s ability to make the lives of everyday Americans more difficult,” wrote Katie Pavlich at Townhall.com.

Ironically, the Left agreed that the ruling denied D.C. paper-pushers their right to continue ruling the country.
“The administrative state just died,” whined Laurence Tribe, a professor emeritus at Harvard Law School and someone on the shortlist of numerous Democratic presidential candidates for appointment to the Supreme Court.
“The imperial judiciary joins the imperial presidency,” he wrote—which sounds great to patriotic Americans. The Constitution didn’t establish an empire, much less one run by thousands of unelected nobodies.
Chevron is now overruled. The administrative state just died. The imperial judiciary joins the imperial presidency, relegating Congress to a secondary role except when it legislates with unrealistic specificity and foresight.

But the Left never sleeps—and when they lose a game, they change the rules. That’s what AOC’s impeachment measures, coordinated with Demand Justice’s $10 million propaganda campaign, is all about…and it has popular support on the far-Left.
This isn’t new. As I reported at The Horn News, that’s he exact same number a Rasmussen poll found among Democrats two years ago.
The message from the Left on the Fourth of July is: Democrats are committed to protecting “Our Democracy,” even if they have to drown the remnants of the Constitution in a world government.
American patriots have to remember the stakes when they vote this November. As Ben Franklin warned, the Founders gave us “a republic, if you can keep it.”
Happy Independence Day weekend. Let freedom ring!
