A strange, shiny object was found sticking out of the rocks in a remote area near Las Vegas. It looked like a tall, thin prism about 6 feet 4 inches high. No one knows how it got there or who put it there.
The Las Vegas police found it and took it down. They did this because they were worried about public safety and protecting the environment. The object was in a wildlife refuge where animals like bighorn sheep and desert tortoises live.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Since 2020, similar objects called “monoliths” have been appearing in different places around the world. It started with one in Utah, and then others showed up in Romania, California, New Mexico, and even on a famous street in Las Vegas.
These monoliths look a lot like the mysterious object in the movie “2001: A Space Odyssey.” When they appear, they usually disappear quickly, which makes people even more curious about them.
The police are keeping this latest object in a secret place while they figure out what to do with it. It’s made of reflective metal and was stuck in the ground with concrete and metal bars.
The authorities are worried about people trying to find these objects. When the one in Utah appeared, lots of people went to see it. This caused problems because they damaged plants with their cars and left trash in an area with no bathrooms.
It’s against the law to put things like this in wildlife refuges. The Desert National Wildlife Refuge, where this one was found, is really big – it’s the largest wildlife refuge outside of Alaska.
The police are telling people not to go off the marked trails or leave things behind in these areas. It can be dangerous for people and bad for the environment.
The mystery of who’s putting these objects in these places and why they’re doing it is still unsolved. The authorities are still investigating, especially the case in Utah from 2020.
