President Joe Biden’s handlers have hidden him away at Camp David this week to prepare (and medicate) ahead of Thursday’s debate—but all his mind has to consider are bad news stories.
The economy continues to worsen; the border remains uncontrolled; he has an enormous disconnect with his own party’s voters; and he’s not getting any younger.
But bad news begets bad news, and Biden’s serial failures as a president are coming back to haunt him in the polls.
Biden’s bad news begins by realizing that President Donald Trump leads the Democrat in the Real Clear Politics average of national polls—but despite the Left’s best efforts to create a national popular vote, America doesn’t elect its president based on who leads nationally.
The worse news for Biden is, not only is he behind in swing states he’ll need to win if he hopes to stay in power, but he’s in big trouble in Democratic strongholds he should have in the bag.
One poll gives you an idea of the depth of Biden’s troubles…but you have to look below the surface to know it.
It happens to take place in the state where Democrats put Trump on trial: New York state.
The plan was to keep Trump sequestered in the unfriendly city, unable to campaign in states where he has a chance of winning…but as usual, the native New Yorker turned it into gold, campaigning in his home city and hosting a massive rally in neighboring New Jersey.
A new poll shows Biden leading Trump by eight points, 47 percent to 39 percent.
That doesn’t seem like good news for Trump—until you compare it to 2020, when Joe Biden crushed Donald Trump by a massive 23 points.
The fact that Trump’s a “convicted felon” didn’t work out the way the Biden team intended, either, as shown by several other polls in what used to be reliably Democratic states.
Think of Virginia. The former Republican state has flipped to the Democratic Party, thanks to the ever-growing number of unionized bureaucrats who work for the federal government moving to the D.C. suburbs.
In 2020, Joe Biden won the state by 10 points.
But a new Roanoke College poll shows the two candidates are tied. Both Trump and Biden win 42 percent of the Virginia electorate in a head-to-head match-up.
That’s got to crush Biden’s heart.
Last year, another Roanoke College poll showed Biden destroying Trump—winning the Old Dominion by an incredible 16 points. How the mighty have fallen!

Virginia is for lovers, but the state’s voters don’t love Joe Biden.
“This is a holy s**t moment for the Biden team,” said talk radio host and Outkick founder Clay Travis.

The same thing is true in Minnesota, which Joe Biden carried in 2020 by seven points.
A new Fox News poll shows Donald Trump dead-even with Biden on very friendly territory.
That actually follows an internal poll taken by McLaughlin & Associates for the Trump campaign that showed Trump winning Minnesota by a four-point spread.
If Donald Trump wins that state in November, that’s not big—it’s yuge.
To put matters in historical perspective, even Ronald Reagan never won Minnesota.
Although Reagan’s two elections in 1980 and 1984 ranks as two of the largest landslides in U.S. history, he never won the Land of a Thousand Lakes—even when he won 49 states—because it was the home state of former Democratic Vice President and failed presidential candidate Walter Mondale. (Some in his campaign say Reagan could have won Minnesota, too, but Reagan insisted the campaign let Mondale win.)
The last Republican presidential candidate to melt the hearts of the frozen Upper Midwestern state was Richard Nixon twelve years earlier in his blowout victory over George McGovern.
“We’ve been winning presidential races since 1972, longer than any other state,” bragged the state’s Democratic governor, Tim Walz, on NewsNation’s The Hill Sunday. But then he admitted he’s not counting Trump out this time.
“It’ll be close,” Walz admitted. “We’ll get her done, though, for” Biden.
His admission that his navy-blue state would look more pastel this fall gave Republicans a new seriousness and urgency in winning this November.
“All this means to me – is that the GOP better have the lawyers and poll watchers ready and a plan in place – especially at 2:00 a.m. or so when the votes are ‘counted,’” said James Golden, better known as Bo Snerdley, the nickname Rush Limbaugh gave him.

Unfortunately, the Democrats’ lead with illegal aliens, dead people, and mail-in ballots discovered at 3 a.m. is an advantage few polls have been able to beat.
