If the Biden administration had a theme song, it would be the Police hit, “Every step you take, every move you make, they’ll be watching you.”
This isn’t just true because of the NSA wiretapping, spying on your email and social media messages, and buying consumer credit information about you.
It’s also about the president himself: Biden’s advisers decided, for the good of the country, that he shouldn’t be allowed to walk by himself anymore.
When Biden takes his slow, lumbering steps, it makes voters think he’s not up to the job—and with the election only six months away, that’s bad news.
“Some Biden advisers have told Axios they’re concerned that videos of Biden walking and shuffling alone — especially across the grass — have highlighted his age,” the left-wing website Axios reported in a “scoop” late last week. (Imagine how bizarre media coverage has become in the Biden administration when news about whether the president can walk on his own is considered a breaking exclusive. Extra, extra!)
In its “scoop” about the president’s stride, Axios reported that “the sudden change in Biden’s walk routine” began in the middle of April.
That’s after the Republican National Committee started drawing attention to “the Biden shuffle.”

A news review of available video footage showed that Biden walked all by himself on each of the five flights he took on the presidential helicopter, Marine One, during the month of March. But in April, he walked with other people nine out of 10 flights.
A side-by-side video comparing Biden walking alone with Biden walking alongside one of his advisors show how much her slim body blocks out: a strained, weak, unnatural gait.

So, the handlers will walk with Biden everywhere he goes until election day.
Like the old song says, “You’ll never walk alone.”
The New York Post savagely called the slow motion sprint team the “Witless Protection” program.
The step is just one of several Biden’s handlers have taken to try to reduce his visible gaffes—and recurring pratfalls and faceplants—from going viral.
They had Joe Biden begin wearing black sneakers, with more traction. He’s also using shorter stairs when he climbs aboard Air Force One—and he still almost trips.

“Maybe they will carry the old fool next since he can’t walk alone,” joked one social media commentator.
Meanwhile, Axios tried to carry water for the White House. “Weeks ago the president told aides that he’d prefer a less formal approach, a White House official told Axios. He suggested that they walk with him.”
So, after more than 50 years of thrusting himself in front of every camera he could find, Joe Biden suddenly decided he wanted a bunch of low-level nobodies to block his light, breathe his oxygen, and steal his spotlight?
Sure, Joe.
It must be frustrating for Joe Biden, who became the youngest U.S. senator of his era at age 29 with visions of setting the world on fire, to be told he’ll have attendants who managing every action he takes, from the words he reads off of index cards, to whether he’s allowed to answer journalists’ questions, to how and when he’s allowed to walk.
Some observers have pointed out that having White House staffers flank the president not only keeps the cameras from recording his stumbling, bumbling, shuffling ambulations but also helps prevent reporters from getting close enough to ask questions.
Joe Biden can hardly walk let alone talk. Now staffers wait for him to get off Marine Force One and flank him before heading inside. This new strategy is for Biden to avoid taking questions and the ongoing age and dementia concerns.👇 pic.twitter.com/qIGwr2RacX

Biden’s supporters have tried to laugh the story off, or aggressively challenged Republicans to make a big deal out of it.
White House spokesman Andrew Bates exploded, “He’s fully visible except for a few seconds. Impeach.”
But the revelation that Biden is deliberately trying to manage the news coverage of his walks has led critics to ask how much of the Biden-Harris administration is completely stage managed.
Actor Matthew Marsden asked if Biden actually takes care of or plays with his ferocious German Shepherds. “Does anyone think that Biden looks after his dogs? He can’t walk himself, let alone an animal. They are just props for photo ops,” he said.
One of the reasons I do not own a dog is because I do not have the time and energy to care for one.

Biden’s defenders have also highlighted a report from the president’s doctor from last February, blaming his walk on arthritis in his spine.
“As part of the November 2021 physical, I noted that the President was demonstrating a perceptibly stiffened ambulatory gait as compared to before his foot fracture,” wrote Kevin O’Connor, D.O., FAAFP, and physician to the president. “Much of his stiffness is in fact a result of degenerative (‘wear and tear’) osteoarthritic changes (or spondylosis) of his spine.”
While Biden’s arthritis is “moderate to severe,” it’s not so specific that it “would warrant any specific treatment.”
In other words, he’s old. Stop trying to cover it up.
