Former President Donald Trump has never been known for an understated manner of speech — but he took his boldness to a new level Friday morning.
In a fundraising email, Trump warned supporters: “72 HOURS UNTIL ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE.”
Trump was referring to the scheduled start of his trial on allegations of misusing campaign funds to pay “hush money.” According to the prosecution, Trump paid adult actor Stormy Daniels to remain quiet about an affair. He has pleaded not guilty.
In the same email, Trump encouraged his supporters to remain peaceful, and New York is dispatching security officers to deter any threats.
The criminal trial in New York was the first-ever criminal indictment against a former president. Trump, even if re-elected, can not pardon himself in a state-level case.
