Baltimore Ravens cornerback Tray Walker is in critical condition after police say he was involved in a dirt bike crash in Miami.

Miami-Dade Police say Walker was riding a Honda dirt bike with no lights and wearing dark clothing when he collided with a Ford Escape at about 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Ravens say Walker is at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Police are investigating.

Walker was selected in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL draft. He played in eight games last season, mostly on special teams.

In a statement, Ravens coach John Harbaugh said, “This is devastating news. Our prayers and hopes are with Tray and his family tonight.”

A native of Miami, Walker attended Miami Northwestern High School before playing in college at Texas Southern.

As an NFL player Mr. Walker has the best medical care available. Hopefully he recovers well enough to live an average life-if not on the football field.

And now my comment looks really uncool, because he died the next day.

Players need to be more careful. They make so much money an they should not participate in racing while under contract.

Racing was not the problem. NASCCAR racers run at close to 200 mph.
Very few ever get killed or even seriously injured.
Stupidity was the problem. No lights, dark clothing, non street legal
      bike etc.
So far I have not heard of alcohol or drug involvement but, I wouldn’t
be a bit surprised if they were involved.
Even if so, that’s still no excuse for gross stupidity.
