Mother Teresa will be made a saint on Sept. 4.
Pope Francis set the canonization date Tuesday, paving the way for the nun who cared for the poorest of the poor to become the centerpiece of his yearlong focus on the Catholic Church’s merciful side.
The announcement was expected after Francis in December approved a second miracle attributed to Mother Teresa’s intercession — the final hurdle to make her a saint. The actual date falls on the eve of the 19th anniversary of her death.

I have always admired Mother Theresa and will happily share my birthday with her canonization!
I just read that this canonization may profess costs thousands and thousands of $$$$$$ to become a saint.
That is shameful to say the least.
Mother Teresa is already a saint, biblically, because she
Knew Jesus Christ as.her..Savior and Lord. She was an
Outstanding Christian woman.
Give me a break! ‘Mother’ Teresa certainly did NOT know Jesus Christ as her Saviour and Lord! She was a Roman Catholic, for goodness sake, and pretty astute at raking in the dosh and doing a good PR job.
PLEASE SOME ONE EXPLAIN TO THE PUBLIC WHAT IS A SAINT AND WHY SHOULD THE PUBLIC PAY ATTENTION . THERE ARE NON CATHOLIC MEMBERS WHO DEFENDED AND DID MORE MIRACLES TO OUR COUNTRY, BY BEING A SOLDIER, POLICE OFFICERS, FIREMAN , DOCTORS, NURSES, ETC. ETC. RISKING THEIR LIVES AND FAMILY BUT NONE OF THEM ARE CONSIDERED SAINT. I NEVER KNEW THIS WOMAN OR WHAT SHE HAS DONE AND I AM SURE SHE HAS HELPED MANY BUT WHY MAKE HER TO BE A SAINT.
FROM THE BIBLE I UNDERSTOOD THAT JESUS WAS THE ONLY SAINT THAT COULD PREFORM MIRACLES ,BUT THE CATHOLICS AGAIN MAKES UP MORE OF THEIR NAME CALLING , RULES, AND LIES, JUST FOR MONEY. HEY, THERE ARE MANY OF PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF WHO HAVE DONE SEVERAL THINGS IN MY LIFE TIME TO HELP BUT I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF ANY BETTER THAN THE NEXT PERSON WHO HAVE DONE MORE OF THE SAME.
DONATE YOUR MONEY TO A REAL HELPER WHO ARE THERE IMMEDIATELY WHEN DISASTER STRIKES (“THE RED CROSS”)
AT LEAST THE ENTIRE WORLD CAN DEPEND ON THEM AND THEY ARE WORTH YOUR MONEY DONATED AND NOT JUST FOR THEIR OWN INVESTMENTS, POLICTICS, ETC. ETC. .
First of all, if the church wants to name somebody a saint and you don’t agree, so what? If you’re a Catholic, you can either celebrate or ignore it. If you’re not a Catholic, it’s none of your damn business, so knock off the holier-than-thou bs telling other people what to do or not do – in caps yet.
You’re quite right, Arhtur (Arthur?). The Roman Catholic panoply of saints is the equivalent of the Hindus’ multiple gods. Some of the so-called RC saints are ACTUAL pagan ‘gods’ who have been given a new identity as ‘saints’ eg Dionysus. The true saints of God are His elect. We are called saints in the New Testament. Many of us don’t feel very saint-like, but saint status is not based on good works, but on what Jesus did for us on the cross. 1 Corinthians 1:30 says, “But it is from Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who became God-given wisdom for us–our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption….” so you can see from this that HE is our sanctification. It is Christ Who confers on us our saint status, not we ourselves, or anything we do. Moreover, we are considered saints in THIS life, not the next. Being a ‘saint’ is not dependent on a human decision, nor is it for another mere mortal to ascribe a ‘miracle’ to us in order to attain ‘sainthood’; this is another wicked lie from the RCs. Lastly, you are wrong about the Red Cross. Whatever they might have been once, they are no longer a trustworthy organisation. DON’T give your money to them, but instead seek out small, genuine, Christian charities who help on the ground.
In spite of (or maybe because of) her stated lack of particular faith in this god thing, she did a whole lot of good for people that were mostly ignored by the money crowd and most of the so called god crowd. Not many of the people who claim joy at her saint status ever turned a hand to help her. I doubt that she would be very impressed by the label that was put on her, mostly so that those who didn’t bother to help could find a reason to feel good about themselves.

to offer her daily prayer. Organizing fellow Sisters, probably mesmerized by years of poverty, to help those worse off than they ~
opposing the Catholic Oligarch big boys to insist in her prayer status ~ refusing to take donations that were solicited by outside
News media and the like ~ always giving her thanks back to her Creator for options received ~ how many salary ordinated
persons have the time or credentials to glorify their mundane existence for themselves ~ scads! One Mother Theresa who
we were lucky to know through our so-called growth years. If this takes a Vote, it will be the only one I’ll share in this crazy
