Fashion statement, or weapon? Gun-shaped stiletto heels confiscated

At the airport, safety is more important than sexy.

That’s what a woman found out at the Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. Officials say she was stopped Sunday at a security checkpoint with a pair of gun-shaped stiletto heels.

TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein says the stilettos had heels in the shape of handguns and faux bullets around the sole. They were in the woman’s carry-on luggage, along with bracelets lined in faux bullets.

The agency prohibits passengers from carrying “replica guns or ammunition” through airport security checkpoints.

Farbstein says the woman was told that she could put the items in her checked luggage. The woman tried to check the items, but ended up leaving them with the TSA in order to catch her flight.

The Associated Press contributed to this article.

Another example where “common sense” has no longer a place in governmental decisions. It is ridiculous that political nonsense precedes plain common sense. This is why we are desperate to elect a president that has thrown this outrageous political correctness o the wind……it has no place in American Freedom!

“The agency prohibits passengers from carrying “replica guns or ammunition” through airport security checkpoints.” Ignorance at it’s best. The majority of these idiots are just that – IDIOTS. This pair of shoes is not a replica.

OH! YEH! We confiscated a pair of shoes that look like guns! Also confiscated bracelets with decorations that looked like bullets! Aren’t we good we missed a whole bunch of contraband coming through as weapons, but we stopped anything that LOOKS LIKE A GUN OR AMMUNITION!! HOORAY FOR US. A total waste of space and air, adds cost to already expensive commercial travel, wastes time and money, has dangerous employees.

    Stupid is as stupid does.
When will people say ENOUGH of this garbage?
    .
Does anyone remember when a traveler had a piece of chocolate shaped like a gun?
She had to either eat it or have it confiscated.

If the TSA could recognize them as “faux” is there any doubt that anyone else could? The TSA seems to delay the “discovery” of contraband that could be placed in checked baggage until late enough to cause you to miss your original flight if you were to opt to do so.

Another example of our fine highly educated TSA people and another example of the dumbing down of America.
