Conservative commentator Steven Crowder rejected a job offer from the Daily Wire, and he rejected it publicly.
In particular, Crowder published a phone call with Daily Wire executive Jeremy Boreing, and Crowder seemed to take issue with Boreing’s comment about “wage slaves.”
“Benched talent, young talent, they don’t get deals like this,” Boreing said, referring to his apparent offer to pay Crowder $50 million over four years. “They just be wage slaves for a little bit, come over and make a salary and grow their brand.”
Candance Owens, a Daily Wire host, characterized Crowder’s publicity stunt as ungrateful… but not in those words.
“Unrelatable! People are trying to pay for bacon and eggs right now, trying to buy a steak once a week. And you’re over here, crying, because somebody couldn’t meet you at $120 million,” Owens said. “And it is crying. I don’t like it. It’s a total b***h move.”
“There are plenty of things that happen across all organizations in the conservative movement, that I empathize with Steven Crowder in saying that sometimes you feel like a cynic in saying, ‘Is everybody selling out?’… There’s a lot of things that Daily Wire has done that I disagree with. There’s a lot of things that [the conservative nonprofit Turning Point U.S.A.] has done that I disagree with. There are things, perhaps, that Prager U. has done that I disagree with. I have worked with all of these companies,” Owens conceded.
“But to do a total b***h move and go out to the public rather than trying to resolve these things and these slight differences behind the scenes? And to make it seem like you’re the hero and you’re the true one to keep it authentic when something — really nothing — happened, other than you didn’t like an initial term sheet? And all you’d got to do was was tell them that?!”
Owens concluded, “I think it’s cr***y. I think Steven is a little egocentric. He probably will do better on his own.”
She also alleged, without evidence, that Crowder was refusing to release a former employee from a non-disclosure agreement.

Crowder primarily publishes on YouTube, despite YouTube’s decision to bar his channel from ad revenue. He also maintains his own website.
Early in his career, Crowder worked as a Fox News staffer and as a voice actor on the children’s series Arthur.
