Chuck Schumer just got devastating news

The 2022 midterm elections will almost certainly see control of the U.S. Senate switch from the Democratic Party to Republican control — bad news for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

And a stunning new poll from ABC News illustrates just how bad things are looking for Schumer and his Democratic allies.

An eye-watering 83 percent of Americans say the economy under President Joe Biden is an extremely or very important issue in the upcoming election.

80 percent of Americans say inflation is an extremely or very important issue that will help decide their vote.

That’s bad news for Schumer and Biden.

According to the poll —

A majority of Americans, 56%, continue to approve of Biden’s COVID-19 response. However, this positive sentiment does not extend to other issues.

Currently, 37% approve of Biden’s handling of the economic recovery. This rating is in line with views from the past few months (40% in April), but it represents a 16-percentage point decline from nearly a year ago (53% approval in July 2021).

Only a quarter approve of Biden’s handling of inflation (28%) and gas prices (27%). Notably, Biden only earns a bare majority of Democrats’ support on both of these issues: 56% of Democrats approve of the job he’s doing on inflation, and 51% feel the same about gas prices.

40 percent of voters say they’re very enthusiastic to vote in the upcoming election — but there’s a wide gap between Republican voters and Democratic.

The GOP holds a large advantage in enthusiasm. 57 percent of Republicans told ABC News they were “very enthusiastic” to go vote. Only 44 percent of Democrats said the same thing.

Unsurprisingly, Biden’s economic struggles have motivated his opponents. 66 percent of the most enthusiastic voters said the economy is extremely important to their vote, ABC News reported.

62 percent said the same thing about inflation. Just 27 percent said the coronavirus pandemic will be extremely important.
