The Minnesota Freedom Fund accepted tens of millions of dollars in donations to help bail out the thousands of protesters arrested in the wake of George Floyd’s tragic death.
But there’s just one issue.
Tuesday, the liberal organization admitted that hardly any money actually went toward bail.
In fact, by its own admission, less than one percent of the more than $30 million raised went to free people incarcerated.
The organization, which had several marquee celebrities contribute to the fund, has meager gains to show for all the money they collected.
Critics are wondering where the money is.
Could a scandal be brewing?
“Without jeopardizing the safety of the folks we bailed out we paid well over $200k in the weeks since the uprising alone,” the group said on Twitter Monday. “We are working on doing more.”
More?
The Daily Caller writes that the Minnesota Freedom Fund stopped taking donations June 2 and on June 5 issued a statement announcing that they’d be rerouting donations toward illegal immigration resources.
“All protest-related bail so far that has come our way has been paid,” the organization said on Twitter Tuesday. “‘Support’ starts with legal representation, court fees, and transportation, and starts with $150k. That can scale up as the project gets set up and costs start getting documented.
The admission of guilt led to mixed reactions in the political world — with some even calling for an investigation.
Tariq Nasheed, a vocal political pundit, gave a skeptical reaction to the motivations of the liberal group while sympathizers of the group also spoke out as well.
“This is why we have to stop the coopt,” he wrote on Twitter.
This white run organization allegedly collected $35 million, and only used $200k to actually bail out protesters.
Those of us in the real Black grassroots have been getting folks out of jail on our own.

It seems that the jury is still out on whether or not the efforts of Minnesota Freedom Fund are honest.
But what’s certain is that they have a clear track record of millions of dollars in donations.
Time will only tell whether or not they do the right thing with it.
