The French presidential election is set for Sunday and nations across the globe are on the edge of their seats, anxiously awaiting the outcome.
Now famous 1950’s French movie icon Brigitte Bardot is weighing in with her two cents, adding to the global attention on the tense runoff and proving that U.S. President Donald Trump is influencing politics across the Atlantic.
Candidate Marine Le Pen’s campaign mirrors Trump’s in many ways. She advocates for closed borders, increased military power, and a fierce fight against radical Islamic terror.
And Bardot is on board.
The movie star slammed Le Pen’s opponent Emmanuel Macron, saying in a tweet Tuesday, “the contempt he gives to animal suffering can be seen in the total lack of empathy reflected in the coldness of his steel eyes,” Breitbart translated.
A brutal condemnation just days before the election that will decide France’s fate.
She also endorsed Le Pen in an interview with La Figaro, responding to a question about Le Pen’s anti-migration policies with a beautiful answer proving her love for her country.
“I am very patriotic. I was raised by a father and grandfather who fought for France and instilled in me a love for my homeland. I am not proud of what France is today.”
She continued, saying Len Pen “has the will to take France in hand, to restore borders and give priority to the French.”
The latest polls show Macron ahead with 60 percent to Le Pen’s 40 — but if we learned anything from Trump’s victory it’s that polls don’t hold the truth… and anything could happen.
